Carolyn Jean (Johnson) Russell, of Jones, Oklahoma, passed away on April 7, 2026, in Harrah, Oklahoma, at the age of 77.
She was born on March 14, 1949, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to John Jesse Johnson and Luther Jean (Simmons) Johnson. Her mother later carried the last name Davis.
Carolyn dedicated much of her professional life to law enforcement support, retiring as Warrants Supervisor for the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office. She was known for her dedication, strength, and the respect she earned throughout her career.
Above all, Carolyn had a deep and abiding love for her family. She cherished time spent at the lake, family reunions, and any gathering that brought her loved ones together. She was truly the life of the party, with a larger-than-life personality, a quick wit, and a hilarious sense of humor. Carolyn was incredibly generous and loving, and she made everyone feel welcome. She had a special bond with her nieces and nephews, loving each one as her own, and she formed countless friendships throughout her life—far too many to name.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Solon A. Russell; her sisters, Rita Davis, Donna Shouse, and Mona Davis; her son-in-law, Dick Ozment; her brother-in-law, Billy Wilson; and her dear best friend, Lora Sanchez.
She is survived by her aunt, Nancy Snodgrass; her sister, Debbie Wilson; and her three daughters, Kerry Jean Williams and husband Doug, Shelly Otwell, and Tracy Bowes and husband Dave. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Mindy Shaw (Jimmie), Tra Neal (Coty), and Justin Whitten; her great-grandchildren, Ayden, Macy, Mya, Jase, Isaac, Grace, Colby, Forrest, and Owen; her lifelong friend, Mary Bell Nichols; and her best friend, Sandy Perry. She is also survived by her beloved grand dogs, Piper and Penelope, along with many extended family members and dear friends.
Carolyn will be remembered for her warmth, her laughter, and the joy she brought into every room. Her legacy of love and devotion to family will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
