Claudette Marie Johnson

Claudette Marie “Nanny” Johnson, 79, of Jones, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026, from heart failure, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on April 26, 1946 in Joplin, Missouri, Claudette was the daughter of Floyd Cardin and Norma Wonder.

Known to many as “Nanny,” Claudette carried with her a beautiful smile, a wicked sense of humor, and a heart that seemed big enough to hold the world. Her wit and sarcasm could fill a room with laughter, while her generosity and unconditional love touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Claudette graduated from Shawnee High School before beginning her career with Southwestern Bell, where she worked diligently until her well-earned retirement. In her journey through life, she married Terry Stevenson Sr., with whom she raised three children, and later found lasting love and companionship with her husband of 45 years, James Johnson Jr.

A passionate collector, Claudette delighted in discovering antiques, coins, and jewelry, but her true treasure was her Wizard of Oz collection, which reflected her vibrant spirit and sense of wonder. Though she wasn’t deeply involved in community organizations, her open heart and giving nature built a community of its own among friends and family.

She is survived by her beloved husband, James Johnson Jr.; her children, Terresa Kiker and husband David, Terry Stevenson Jr., Seth Stevenson and wife Tricia., Mary L. Winn and husband Frank., Grandchildren; Alyssa Lofton, Sydnee Bigham, Baylee Bigham, Chloe Stevenson, Presley Stevenson, Estella Stevenson and Ben Stevenson, Rusti Morris Jr, Joshua Eden, Ashley Lopez and Tommie Tune as well as 13 great grandchildren and many close friends and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Norma.

Those who knew our mom know she would want us all to go forward and love each other unconditionally—just as she always did.
