Coy D. Mills (1938–2025) of Midwest City, Oklahoma, passed peacefully into his eternal home on September 17th, 2025, surrounded by his family.
Coy was born in Stilwell, Oklahoma, to John & Bonnie Mills and was the youngest child of 9 — 4 boys & 5 girls. He is survived by the three daughters: Sheri Nicholas and husband John Foster of Davis, Oklahoma; Holly Lane and husband Jeff Lane of Choctaw, Oklahoma; Marie Davenport and husband Jason Davenport of Midwest City, Oklahoma; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Coy was transferred to the Oklahoma City General Motors Plant with his family from Fremont, California, as an auto linesman in 1983, and he retired in Oklahoma City after 32 years of employment.
Retiring at a young age, he & our late mother did a lot of traveling in their mini motorhome. They had a love for shopping at antique stores — Mom collecting the California Raisins & Dad anything related to M&M's. They had many family dinners and did a lot of camping.
He loved to bowl and had been on many competitive teams over the years. Also an avid fisherman, he had that special pole that always caught the most crappie. We had lots of fish fries. Dad also had a green thumb — he could grow delicious tomatoes & huge onions from his raised garden beds and loved to share with all he knew.
He loved to zoom around his neighborhood on his electric scooter, waving at all his neighbors. At times he would pull into his pharmacy nearby, through the drive-thru, just to ring the buzzer, wave, and drive off laughing.
He had a huge love for life, for his family, and all of his friends. He was always smiling, laughing, and cracking jokes. He taught us kids to be kind, respect is earned by how you treat others, laugh when you can — even at yourself, stand tall when you're right, stay humble when you're wrong, time spent is love shown.
He was the best son, husband, father, grandpa, great-grandpa, uncle, boyfriend, and friend anyone could ever ask for. His joyful spirit will be missed so much.
Our family has suffered a significant loss; we appreciate all the love and support that our family has received during this difficult time.
We would like to thank the entire Oncology staff at OU Health, Stephenson Cancer Center for all of their love and support over the past several years, and to the staff of A Path of Care Hospice.
A celebration of life gathering and burial will be announced at a later date
