Doris Lavonia Neel

Doris L. Neel, 77, from Muskogee, OK passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on October 7, 2025.

  Doris was born on May 26, 1948, in Webbers Falls, OK to Garvis C. Wooten, Sr. and Mary C. (Reece) Wooten. She graduated from Webbers Falls High School in 1966. On July 23, 1976, Doris married her soulmate Barry Neel in Muskogee, OK. Together Doris and Barry owned and operated Brandkel Sports & Awards for 20 years. She also worked at local insurance agencies and worked as a Veterans Claims Examiner at Veterans Benefits Administration Office in Muskogee.

  Doris was dedicated to her family and loved spending time with her grandkids and was also devoted to supporting her husband in his Shrine endeavors for 40 years. Doris is preceded in death by her parents Garvis and Mary Wooten; 2 sisters, Margaret Petross and Barbara Jean Merritt.

  Doris leaves behind to cherish her memories, her devoted husband of 49 years Barry Neel of the home; son Devin Thomas & wife Liz of Cumberland, MD; daughter Brandi Jones & husband Jason of Muskogee; sister Jerl Dean Crow & husband Alfred (Bo) of Sallisaw; brother Garvis C. Wooten Jr. of Webbers Falls; sister-in-law Donna Neel of Oklahoma City; 3 grandsons, Jacob Jones, Brason Jones, and Jaxon Jones of Muskogee; several nieces & nephews and a host of friends. 

 The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff of Davita Dialysis of Muskogee.

 A Celebration of Life will be 10:00 am Monday, October 13, 2025, at Memorial Park Cemetery, 7600 Old Taft Road, Muskogee, OK under the direction of Hibbs Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to your favorite charity or to the Bedouin Shrine Transportation Fund in Muskogee.
