Earl Dean Mackey passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 5, 2026, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was born on January 10, 1944, in Marshall, Oklahoma, to Lee A. and Viola (Kroeger) Mackey, and was the youngest of four children.
Earl grew up in Cleo Springs, Oklahoma. After graduating high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. During this time, he met and married Donna Lee Green, and together they had two sons, Gregory Lee and Stacey Lynn Mackey. After living in several areas throughout Oklahoma, they made Choctaw their home, where they raised their sons.
Earl continued serving in the Air Force Reserves while working as a civilian employee at Tinker Air Force Base, where he built a long and dedicated career. He enjoyed spending time at the lake with his family, fixing and restoring old cars, fishing, hunting, going to church, and traveling.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Lee and Viola Mackey; his brother, Keith Mackey; his sister, Jane Mackey; and Donna Mackey, the mother of his children.
He is survived by his sons, Greg Mackey and wife Dana of Choctaw, and Stacey Mackey of McLoud; his grandchildren, AJ and Raelee Mackey of Choctaw; his sister Joyce and her husband Simon of Crescent, Oklahoma; along with several nieces and nephews, cousins, and many friends too numerous to mention.
A private viewing for family and close friends will be held on March 6, 2026, at 6:00 PM, at Hibbs Funeral Home in Choctaw, Oklahoma.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Gracewood of Tulsa and Good Shepherd Hospice of Tulsa for their compassionate care and support.
