Errol Lynn Teel, 77, died after a long battle with ALS on April 13, 2026. He was born May 21, 1948, “on the farm” in Maywood, NE to Alvin and Marceal (Norma) Teel who preceeded him in death.
His early life was a series of moves from Nebraska to Colorado to Oregon to Washington along with his 2 brothers and 2 sisters. He graduated from Prosser High School and attended Yakima Valley Junior College before entering the Air Force. Between his training and first assignment at Tinker Air Force Base, he married Janice Lorraine Brown in Prosser, WA on Sept 13, 1969. Their children are Troy and Audra.
Although he was on numerous temporary assignments, he spent most of his 24-year career at Tinker AFB in ground radar support with the 3rd Combat Communications Group, also known as the 3rd Herd.
Midwest City was his permanent home for over 50 years. He provided leadership for Boy Scouts of America, transportation for soccer games and baseball games, and plenty of suggestions (advise.) He taught his kids basic car maintainenance, how to set up a site for camping and how to hunt and fish. He also taught them to be respectful to God, family, friends, and property.
Lynn was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church of Midwest City. He was an elder, a member of the Kitchen Sunday School Classs and in general did what needed doing around the church.
After USAF retirement in 1991, he drove delivery trucks locally and later as a long distance driver. His final job was radar equipment inventory in and out at FAA. Retirement allowed more time for his hunting and fishing hobbies.
Unfortunately an ALS diagnosis curtailed those activities. With a lot of help, there was a recent fishing trip however, complete with a new “fish tale”.
He is survived by his wife, Jan; son Troy and wife Sandi and daughter Audra and her husband Ben Keele. There are 4 grandchildren: Kenneth (Hillsboro OR), Kathleen (Midwest City), Karynsa (Teaneck NJ) and Kyle (Midwest City); his brothers Al and Noi (Rockwall TX), Larry and and wife Margaret (Selah WA); sisters Marcia and husband Garland Hogue (Selah WA) and Debbie Utterback (Cheney WA); his aunt Betty Jo Remus (Wellfleet NE) as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Lynn’s daughter has been his full time caretaker these past few years. The family would like to say thank you to family, friends and health care providers; particularly the VA ALS staff and Saint Anthony Hospise. And a special thank you to Camelia, Brittney, Syndey, Missy, and Diane who were a huge blessing with a significant impact during his need for care. They have become family.
