Gary Richard Daniel was born on February 19, 1962, in Plainview, TX to Sharon Standefer and Jerry Stowe. He was later adopted by Bob Daniel who raised him the rest of his life. He lived in OKC until 4th grade, moving to Harrah, Oklahoma in 1972. He excelled in wrestling and playing the tuba in the HHS Band. He graduated in 1980 and then attended OU for a short period, then went to work at GM in 1981 and worked for 27 years. Remarkably, he returned to school mid-life, and in 2008, received a BSN in Nursing from SNU — a testament to his drive and dedication. He worked at the VA for 11 years, retiring in 2019.
On a personal note, he married the love of his life on August 8, 1981, and they celebrated 44 years of marriage and love. Together they had two sons, Keith Austin Daniel in 1983 and Kevin Anthony Daniel in 1991. He enjoyed going to their baseball games and piano recitals, making memories through baking, cooking, and good old-fashioned hard work outside. There was always a project he wanted to complete and a hobby to be curious about. From woodworking, to learning guitar and the clarinet, to then learning about the newest tech, playing games online, or following up on his Fantasy Football team, he was always wanting to stay busy, productive, and always learning as much as he could. He also loved to travel and traveled from British Columbia down to Peru.
He was first diagnosed with leukemia in 2019 and went into remission for 5 years. Unfortunately, the leukemia returned in 2025, and God called him home a year later. He was a fighter until the end after his long battle with cancer, still taking care of people along the way.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn of 44 years, his sons Keith (Abrey) and Kevin (Emily), mother-in-law Audie Brown, brother Randy (Burke), and sister Kathy (Joel), Aunt Donna and Aunt Linda, sister-in-law Sandra (Kirk), and his half-sisters Kathy, Christy, Tammy, and Natasha. He is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. We all loved him so much, and he loved and cared for everyone he met. He truly was the walking example of a Godly man.
