Gary Edward Marler

May 6, 1950 — May 12, 2025

Sparks

Gary Edward Marler passed away on May 12, 2025, at his home in Sparks, Oklahoma, at the age of 75. Gary was born in Sacramento, California on May 6, 1950 to Clarence Edward Marler and Billie Dove Cole. Gary graduated from Choctaw High School in 1968 and joined the United States Navy immediately following.

Gary married the love of his life Judy (Storey) on February 6, 1969, and they spent more than 58 wonderful years together. Gary was a jack of all trades and over his career worked as an electrician, as a maintenance supervisor in heating/air and in the woodwork shop building cabinetry.

Gary loved spending time with family and friends outdoors and always had some sort of new hobby or project he was working or “supervising” on. He loved to fish, hunt, skeet-shoot and camp even if it was in his backyard with family and friends. Gary also had a special love for his animals and had many over his lifetime that he loved unconditionally.

Gary loved his family with all his heart and he was especially proud of his grandkids and great-grandkids. He looked forward to spending time, mentoring and teaching them valuable lessons about life and the outdoors. He also made sure they each became a fan of his favorite tv show “Hee-Haw” by replaying multiple episodes of the show when visiting.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents.

Gary is survived by his wife Judy Marler of the home; daughter Angie Baker and husband Jay of Choctaw, Oklahoma; daughter Judith Marler and partner Rich Comes of Midwest City, Oklahoma; brother Melvin Marler and wife Martha of Harrah, Oklahoma; sister Karen Dill and husband Jerry of Prague, Oklahoma; grandson Troy Johnston and wife Stephanie of Velma, Oklahoma; favorite granddaughter Chelsi Roderick and husband Alex of Australia; grandson Roland Baza and wife Kelsy of Choctaw, Oklahoma; grandson Jayson (“J.T.”) Baker and wife Summer of Choctaw, Oklahoma; grandson Vincent Baza and wife Sandra of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; grandson Keaton Baker of Choctaw, Oklahoma; and his pride and joy great-grandkids; Paige, James, Oaklee, Olive, Kallen, Geno, Parker, Kye, Adalynn and Rudy and many other family and friends.
