Leslie William Smith Jr

Leslie Smith Jr, age 83 passed away peacefully at home on August 18, 2026. He was born on June 16, 1943 in LaFore, Oklahoma, to Leslie and Julia Smith. Leslie met the love of his life, Joyce and shortly thereafter they were married, Leslie was 19 and Joyce 17. Soon after they were married, they started their family. They were blessed with three children, and built a home for their family in Luther, OK, where Joyce still resides. While living in Luther Leslie and Joyce made many long-lasting friendships. As an Iron Worker, Leslie provided for his family until retirement. He was a longstanding member of the Iron Workers Union and just recently received his 55 year pin. As you drive around Oklahoma City you will see many buildings that Leslie was a part of constructing. He also traveled throughout the states helping construct many other buildings over his career. During his retirement years Leslie loved being outdoors hunting, fishing and working on old classic cars. His favorite part of restoring cars was taking his sweetheart out for a drive on a beautiful day. Over the years Leslie got to see his children grow up and start their own families. He was blessed with five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Leslie loved spending time with them, they would always bring a smile to his face and a sparkle in his eyes. Leslie is survived by his wife Joyce Smith, daughter Rhonda Lynch and husband David, daughter Dusty Erivn and husband Brian, and son Rusty Smith. His grandchildren – Joshua, Philip, Laci, Logyn, and Luke. Greatgrandchildren – Evelyn, Reese, Levi, and Rex. He Is also survived by his sister Brenda Fent and husband Raymond, brother Jimmy Smith, and brother – in – law Benny Crowe. He leaves behind a large extended family of nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his father Leslie Smith and mother Julia Brownlee and his brothers Charles Smith and Gary Smith. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the Nurses, Patient care techs, Physical Therapists, Doctors and Nurse Practioners and all the team at Mercy Hospital Logan County for the care, compassion and comfort they provided to Leslie and his family.
