It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Nicky Faron Smith on June 13, 2026. Nick will be remembered for his deep love for his family, his leadership throughout his career, and the many lives he touched along the way.

Nicky Faron Smith was born on May 28, 1963, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, to Jesse Joann Poos and Claude K. Smith. As a child, he was a good student and a talented athlete who enjoyed baseball and wrestling. Many of his summers were spent working on his grandparents’ farm, where he developed a special bond with his grandfather and a strong work ethic. Nick graduated from Del City High School in 1981.

Throughout his life, Nick had a natural mechanical ability that led him to a successful career at Tinker Air Force Base, where he worked on KC-135 aircraft for more than 30 years. Combining his technical expertise with strong people skills, he advanced into a supervisory role. Nick was respected and admired by his coworkers, known for leading by example, putting in extra effort, and genuinely caring for “his guys.”

Nick was a true giver with an enormous heart. He expressed his love through acts of service and thoughtful gestures—from making breakfast for those he loved to surprising them by repairing a car’s air conditioning while they were away. He always did his best to provide, protect, and care for those around him.

Nick married Tammy Smith in 1988, and together they raised three children. Although they separated in 2004, they remained friends. In 2008, Nick married Lori Bilyeu, and while their marriage was not permanent, they shared a daughter whom they both adored. Nick later found love again with Vicki Smith, whom he married in 2015. Together they blended their families.

Nick was a fun-loving and devoted father and grandfather who cherished being with his family and being in the outdoors. He enjoyed coaching his children’s soccer teams, fishing, playing sports, working on cars, golfing with his boys, and making people laugh. His presence brought joy to those around him, and his memory will continue to live on through the stories, lessons, and love he shared.

Nick’s spirit lives on in his children, Ashley (Austin) Robinson, Nickolas Smith, Dillon Smith, and Abby Smith; his grandchildren, Addison and Aiden Robinson; his mother, Jesse Joann Poos; step-father Stephen Poos; his sister, Bridgette (Mark) Boen; and many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Nick was preceded in death by his father, Claude K. Smith; his sister, Stephenie Moss; and his grandparents, Clyde and Hazel Smith and Ethel and Fred Stephenson.

He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
