Peggy Lee Helzer, 72, of Harrah, Oklahoma, passed away on February 9, 2026, in Shawnee, Oklahoma. She was born on November 3, 1953, in Shawnee, where her life’s journey both began and came full circle.
Peggy graduated from Del City High School in May of 1972. Just days later, on May 15, 1972, she married the love of her life, Jerry Helzer. Together they shared 53 wonderful years of marriage built on love, dedication, and partnership.
Peggy devoted 43 years of faithful service to American Fidelity before retiring. In addition to her professional career, she and her husband proudly owned and operated D&R Wrecker for 29 years, working side by side to serve their community. Peggy was known for her strong work ethic, determination, and commitment in everything she did.
She was also a cancer survivor, facing life’s challenges with courage and resilience. After retirement, Peggy especially cherished traveling with Jerry, making memories and enjoying the time they had together.
Peggy’s greatest joy in life was her family. She was incredibly proud of her grandsons, who were truly the light of her life. Nothing brought her more happiness than being their grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her father, George Nash; her mother, Ila Nash; her brother, George Dee Nash; and her sisters, Nywana Gober and Myrna Nelson.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jerry Helzer of Harrah; her daughter, Tricia Ollison of Del City; her grandsons, Brandon Ollison of Edmond and Jordan Ollison of Oklahoma City; her sisters, Paulette Blakeslee of Pittsburgh, Oklahoma, and Barbara Nash of Ashland; as well as numerous nieces and nephews who all lovingly claimed she was their “favorite aunt.”
Peggy will be remembered for her strength, loyalty, sense of humor, and deep love for her family. Her legacy of hard work, perseverance, and unconditional love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
