Celebrating the Life of Sammye June Burton

With great sadness, we share the passing of Sammye June Burch Burton, 96, of Choctaw, who passed away peacefully on February 13, 2026 surrounded by loved ones. A loving mother and devoted wife, she spent her life nurturing others. Born October 23, 1929 in Maud, Oklahoma, she was known for her kindness and love of her family.

Sammye met Bill, the love of her life, after WW II where he served in the US Navy. They were married on April 18, 1947 in Shawnee, Oklahoma where they established a home and expanded their family to include Linda June, Bill Dudley, and Bob Franklin. In 1956, the family moved to Oklahoma City. Bill started a printing business with his uncle, Roy Harris. When Roy passed away, Bill and Sammye grew Artcraft Printers from a neighborhood garage to a successful business that served many well-known companies, universities, and other printing establishments for 45 years until they retired.

While in OKC, they worshipped at 12th and Drexel Church of Christ where they met many lifelong friends. Bill and Sammye were married for over 72 years. After Bill’s death in 2019, Sammye continued to live independently. She maintained her home and enjoyed the frequent company of family, friends, and neighbors.
