Sylvia Louise Wright Watson, 87, of Newalla, Oklahoma, passed away on March 1, 2026. She was born March 20, 1938, in Sparta, Tennessee.
Sylvia built a life defined by quiet strength, steady devotion and deep generosity. She worked as a proofreader at the Times Journal Publishing Company and later at Mosher-Adams Map Company, where her keen eye for detail and dedication were deeply valued.
A gifted seamstress for more than 70 years, Sylvia sewed for both customers and family throughout her life, including seasons when she did so professionally. She lovingly sewed her daughters’ clothes throughout their childhood and well into adulthood, stitching care and devotion into every piece she made. Her work reflected remarkable skill, patience and pride. Her hands created pieces that will be treasured for years to come. She also loved to paint and found great joy in gardening, nurturing beauty both inside her home and in the world around her.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra “Sandy” Lynn Rose; her brothers, Robert David Wright Sr., Richard Austin Wright, William Edward Wright, James Michael Wright and Ronald Stephen Wright; her sisters, Mary O’Hara Fickett, Lillian Gail West and Linda Lee West and great-great-grandchild Shepard Leroy Dalton.
She is survived by her children, Robert Louis Dalton III; Sheila Marie Vick and her husband, Jack Vick; and Stephanie Kay Childers and her husband, Mark Childers; and by her sister, Sarah Jeanette Martin.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Derick Andrew Dalton, Jeffery Keith Dalton, William Christopher Smith, Justin Perry Smith, Michael Dewayne Vick, Crystal Onita Chappell, Jacqueline Michelle Henn, Alan Ross Childers and James Robert Childers.
She leaves behind a loving legacy through her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
